West Porch Project
Patrick Tavern has been without the porch on its west side, facing Main Street and Cayuga Lake, for a number of years. There are no clear drawings of the original 1793 porch, but we do have photographs of the porch as it existed in the nineteenth century. The Aurora Ledyard Historical Society is currently in the process of recreating that nineteenth-century porch, restoring the look of the building closer to that known by generations of Aurora residents and visitors and making Aurora’s Main Street more welcoming.
The project is made possible by a generous major gift from the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation and by the contributions of the trustees, members, and friends of the Aurora Ledyard Historical Society. The builder is Jeffrey Koehn, Yesteryears Restoration; the architect is Jennifer Ahrens, Bero Architects, PLLC. Historic Patrick Tavern is owned by the Village of Aurora, James Orman, Mayor. The Aurora Ledyard Historical Society is the building’s steward. We wish to give special thanks to Dr. Linda Schwab, Village Historian, and to the New York State Department of Transportation.

The spindles for the railing are currently being turned. The final black walnut posts are in the process of curing.
When they are ready, probably in the spring, they will replace the temporary posts. Check back to watch the progress of the porch!
